"More" Liars?

We cry for more! We say we want more. We "amen" loudly or nod our head in agreement when the preacher asks us if we want more. Yet, our actions don't back up our rhetoric. In fact, our actions make us liars.

It is interesting to me that so many of us talk about how we wished we could see the miracles, signs, moves of God that we used to see or that our parents encountered. However, we frequent the house of God less than they did. (Don't get me wrong, I am not necessarily in favor of going back to 3 services a week. However, you would think that since most churches have cut back to service once a week on a Sunday morning that this would mean that this 1 service would be the most important time in our lives. Instead, it seems to increasingly be an optional activity that comes in second to sleeping, a good show on TV, or some other trivial thing.) We read His Word less than they did. We spend less time in prayer than they did. We give less than they did. We are less committed than they were. And then we bemoan the results! We have become the victims of our own slackness, laziness, and apathy! We want something for nothing, but more is expensive. The currency of more is commitment and dedication! Those two commodities are harder and harder to find! It is time for us to speak with our actions. If we want more we must prove it by how we live our lives! The proof of desire is still pursuit! You can't get more by spending less time with God. You can't get more by reading His Word less than you used to. You get more by paying the price. Dig deep. Reprioritize. Challenge your own actions. Fight for more! Live for more!
